How to play

Choose roads, homes, commerce, parks, civic services or power from the toolbar and click the grid to place them. Buildings need road frontage. Balance population capacity, jobs, power, happiness and hourly cash flow, then upgrade buildings to level three.

Detailed rules

  1. 1.Homes create population capacity; commerce, civic services and power create jobs. Whichever of jobs or capacity is scarcer limits growth.
  2. 2.When power coverage falls below 100%, growth and happiness drop. Power facilities add substantial supply but carry higher upkeep.
  3. 3.Parks and civic buildings lift happiness but cost hourly upkeep. Revenue comes from actual residents and filled jobs.
  4. 4.Vehicles and pedestrians recalculate A* routes on the current road graph. Breaking a road changes connected-road counts and mobility immediately.
  5. 5.Game time flows automatically and weather can change every three in-game hours. Pause, normal, 4× speed and day/night jumps are available.
  6. 6.The city auto-saves only to a dedicated localStorage key. There is no account, server save or real currency.

Origin & history

Isometric City is an original OIYO game that reinterprets the zoning, transport and budget systems of classic city-building simulations as lightweight browser 3D. Buildings, citizens, vehicles and weather are procedural, with no external game assets.

FAQ

Do vehicles and pedestrians really find routes?

Yes. Road cells form a graph and A* computes shortest paths between origins and destinations. Adding or removing a road rebuilds route sets for up to 264 moving agents.

Can I turn off the tilt-shift effect?

Yes. Use the Tilt-shift button on desktop. Mobile disables the post-process by default for performance and clarity, and also scales traffic, pedestrians and shadow resolution.

Is city data sent to a server?

No. The 18×18 grid, funds, population, time and weather stay in one dedicated localStorage key and are validated before restoration. There is no account or personal-data input.
