Sentence Dungeon — sentence order is the law of the corridor

Sentence Dungeon

One sentence is read once, and only on the westernmost pair it fits. Ice just east of a fire becomes water, a fire just east of water goes out, and water just east of a fire dries. Choose the order until the corridor matches the mark.

1 or M melts, 2 or Q puts a fire out, 3 or D dries. V changes the view, Esc pauses. The left of the screen is west, and alcove numbers start at 1. Changing the view leaves the corridor where it is. This room stays on this screen and is not saved on the device.

How to play

The left of the screen is west, and alcove numbers start at 1. The upper row is the mark and the lower row is the corridor. Melt turns only the westernmost ice just east of a fire into water, quench removes only the westernmost fire just east of water, and dry removes only the westernmost water just east of a fire. A sentence with no fitting pair is not a step. Matching the mark wins. Missing it within 8 sentences loses. The view button does not change the corridor. This room stays on the screen and is not saved on the device.

Origin & history

Sentence Dungeon is an original OIYO puzzle in which the order of sentences, not the words as weapons, becomes the law of the corridor. Four rooms were checked by hand; a seed picks one. It uses no map or audio from another game.

FAQ

Does the same seed always build the same room?

Yes. The seed picks one of four rooms that were checked ahead of time. The sentences are not read again every frame, so a shared address is the same corridor.
