Letter Swap

Preparing the board.

How to play

Tap two cells, or drag one onto another, to exchange letters. Green is the right cell, yellow is in that word, and gray is absent. Swapping the same letter does not count, and you have 15 swaps. The date is Korea Standard Time. A practice board is not recorded, and the stars run from one to five by the swaps you have left.

Detailed rules

  1. 1.Three across words and three down words share the cells. Korean is a 3×3. Other languages are a 5×5 with four empty centers.
  2. 2.A letter in the right cell is green. Otherwise it is yellow when that word still needs it, and gray when it does not.
  3. 3.Swapping two copies of the same letter leaves the board unchanged and does not spend one of the 15 swaps.
  4. 4.Finishing on the 15th swap still wins. Using all 15 without finishing loses that try, and the same start can be replayed.
  5. 5.Today's board is fixed by the Korea Standard Time date and the language. Undo stores the fewest swaps apart from a clean run.

Origin & history

Letter Swap is a daily puzzle: three across words and three down words share one board, and you finish them by exchanging letters. Korean uses three-syllable words on nine cells. Other languages use five-letter words.

FAQ

When does the daily board change?

At midnight Korea Standard Time the board changes for each language. The same day and language share the same start.

What happens after 15 swaps?

That try locks and counts as a loss. Undo cannot reopen it. Replay starts a new try from the same letters.
