How to play
Build tableau columns down in alternating colors, and win by completing all four foundations up from ace by suit.
Detailed rules
- 1.Klondike: 7 tableau columns + 4 foundations + a stock pile.
- 2.Stack the tableau in descending order, alternating colors (red 10 on black J).
- 3.Only a king (or a king-led sequence) can move to an empty column.
- 4.Foundations build up by suit from ace to king.
- 5.When stuck, flip cards from the stock for new options.
Playing toward order
In Solitaire, revealing a face-down card often matters more than making the most obvious move. Opening hidden information creates more routes for later play.
An empty column is valuable buffer space because it can hold a king-led sequence. Do not fill it automatically; decide which blocked column it should unlock.

Klondike solitaire took its name from the late-1800s Klondike gold rush and became history's most-played card game after shipping with Windows in 1990.

Is every deal winnable?
No — only roughly 80% of random Klondike deals are theoretically winnable, and real win rates are far lower. A dead end may not be your fault.
