How to play
Win by capturing the enemy general. Each piece has unique moves; some stay inside the palace.
Calculate exchanges and routes
The chariot breaks through straight lines, the cannon jumps screens, and elephant and horse take bent routes. Look beyond the available capture to the lanes opened or closed next turn and the safety of each general.
Giving up a piece is not automatically a loss. An exchange may lure a strong defender away or open an attacking line for a chariot or cannon; that future position determines its real value.

How does janggi differ from Chinese xiangqi?
Janggi has no river, cannons must jump to move at all, the general uses palace diagonals, and opening setups can be swapped.
