Constellation Shepherd — light stars come, heavy stars drag

Constellation Shepherd

A light star comes one peg toward the shepherd, and a heavy star drags the shepherd one peg closer. Ropes that cross in the middle do not pull. A star has to step onto its seat before the constellation opens.

How to play

Up, down, left, and right are pegs on the sky, not the camera. With no star on that line you walk one peg. A light star comes one peg toward you, and if it is already in hand you step back and it takes your peg. A heavy star drags you one peg closer, and if you are against it the star shifts one peg onward and you take its peg. A pull that crosses a rope already laid, through the middle, does not happen. A star stepping onto its seat wins. Step 8 without that loses. The view button does not change the board.

Origin & history

Constellation Shepherd is an original OIYO puzzle: you walk empty sky, and only the lighter end moves when a rope finds a star. Four skies were checked by hand; a seed picks one. It uses no map or audio from another game.

FAQ

Does the same seed always build the same sky?

Yes. The seed picks one of four skies that were checked ahead of time. The sky is not reshuffled every frame, so a shared address is the same puzzle.
